CLARK WEBER & FRIEND!

On Saturday June 6, 2009, Read Between the Lynes was fortunate enough to have Clark Weber visit our store for a book signing. Little did we know, that our luck was about to double when Mal Bellairs, the recipient of the Pioneer Broadcaster Award from the Illinois Broadcaster Association and collegue of Clark Weber's, stopped by the store to say hi to his old friend.

Mal Bellairs has had a career in broadcasting that spanned 50 years. In teh late 1940s, just after WWII, he began his broadcasting career in Chicago. From 1955 to 1969 he worked at WBBM. In 1969, Mal bout the AM radio station in Crystal Lake (WAIT) and, later, the FM station in Woodstock (that is now known as Star 105.5). After Mal retired from WAIT in the 1990's, it was Clark Weber that took over his shift.

Arlene's Corner

My calendar says the month is April and that today is Earth Day! The sun is out and I believe that spring will now officially begin. We have had some weather this year in northern Illinois and it truly has taken a toll on many of us, emotionally and physically. We are hearty Midwesterners however, and we always seem to prevail.
